HOW DID YOU GET HERE?
Along a long and winding road! I’ve been drawn to both scholarship and social service for years, and always missed one when focused on the other….till I realized that Student Services was a happy middle ground. The CCO has given me an opportunity to help students explore their options in the worlds of work, and also be a part of Purdue’s communities and keep learning myself. Perfect.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
The collaborative spirit of the office and working with students.
FAVORITE THINGS:
Walking/hiking along trails, reading, doing artsy-craftsy things, my Berol Prismacolor colored pencils, Alphonso mangoes, elephants, Suzanne Vega, Tori Amos, Regina Spektor, Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler, The Beatles and Bob Dylan. And the movie ‘Up.’
QUOTE YOU LIVE BY:
My guiding philosophies are: ‘knowledge is power.’ Share knowledge, and be open to learning something new. And, ‘thought congruent with action.’ Ideally, what you believe in and what you do and say should be in harmony; keep trying to make it happen!
ADVICE FOR STUDENTS: Don’t forget your classes and grades but also take the time to explore new ideas and activities, develop new relationships and skills, and find out more about the world! Be adventurous.
