Typically a PhD prepares you to join the professoriate, and conducting an academic job search. Here is a typical timeline for your job search process.
Fall : Positions are posted
Late Fall & Early Spring : First round interviews followed by campus interviews
Mid-Spring or soon after: Offers being made
